Coach John has taught swimming, lifeguarding, first aid & CPR and led Project Adventure programs at summer camps since 1983. John has brought therapeutic adventure programs to Camp Scully, LaSalle School, AmeriCorps, North Colonie Schools, the Town of Colonie and Living Resources.
In 1996, Coach John founded SKYHIGH Adventures as an adventure guiding and skydiving video business.
In 1998, John and a friend signed up for the inaugural Ironman Lake Placid race on a whim and triathlon was added to multi-sport life programs. Coach Kathy joined in on the multi-sport life at the same time and has completed marathons, dozens of triathlons including Half Ironman races, half marathons and other road races.
We have since coached hundreds of triathletes and hosted scores of triathlons. The Multi-Sport Life Tri Club and SKYHIGH Adventure Multi-Sport Camp were added in 2005.
SKYHIGH Adventure Multi-Sport Camp began as a way for our three daughters to have access to adventure programming with friends on a regular basis, and has grown by leaps and bounds.
We've continuously added staff members, choosing from our athletes as they've grown and developed their skills over the years. Our own daughters have all worked and played with us throughout their lives, creating amazing lifelong friendships and memories along the way.
Our son-in-law Jake and daughter-in-law Tiya have both become marathon runners and swimmers. It's hard to stay still in this family.
It has been an honor and a pleasure helping our athletes, their parents and families live a multi-sport life.
We are always active and busy. While we won't be traveling the world as much this year, we won't be idle.
We have half marathons, marathons, and half- and full Ironman races planned for 2026.
John is the Executive Director of the SHAC Center, Inc, a community center right in Averill Park, along with working out, teaching strength and conditioning, spinning, and Red Cross courses, as well as volunteering for local non-profits.
Kathy is very active in volunteering at the SHAC Center, running strength and conditioning, cycling and spinning classes every day. She is responsible for the gardens at the SHAC as well as at the house, home of the Triathlon Camp.
John and Kathy are thrilled to announce that we will become grandparents this June! Julia and Jake are blessing our family with a new generation of athletes!
We highly recommend retirement from your 9-5 job!
